At the end of 2023 Emerge Gallery closed it's physical space in Saugerties, NY, but continued hosting group shows virtually through the gallery shop on Artsy.net. The on-line shop offered a platform for the works of Hudson Valley artists to be viewed annd purchased by collectors throughout the world.
A virtual presence was a wonderful tool to exhibit and sell art, but it was a different experience from having a physical presence. Many of my favorite parts of being a gallery owner were the personal connections made and being able to spend some time with artists and the community when they visited; the excitement in making the connections between the art when hanging a show and watching it come together like a puzzle.
But the things that i enjoyed so much were lost in the translation to going exclusively virtual. After much consideration, I have decided to close the virtual Artsy shop. (Note to artists: if your art was listed on Artsy with Emerge Gallery, it will no longer be available to view or purchase).
I'll be taking a step back from Emerge Gallery to focus on my new position as Programming Director for the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild — one of the country's oldest artist colonies. I'm proud to still be working for the arts in my new role. I'll be stepping back but i intend to continue hosting exhibitions as Emerge Gallery at different locations in the future.
Thank you for the 8 years of support. It's been a pleasure meeting so many wonderful artists and supporters of the arts. i have made a lot of friends on this journey. I know I'll see many of you again.
